INEOS: Aligning global operations and methodology for site diagnostics

Aligning global operations and methodology for site diagnostics

Our client, INEOS Styrolution, wanted to create alignment across its global operations by introducing a uniform approach for site diagnostics. With multiple sites at different maturity levels, there was a need for a shared methodology to objectively assess operational performance and improvement potential. PDM partnered as an operations management and organizational development expert, helping to align teams, methods and decision‑making across regions. The result: consistent insights, stronger collaboration and a scalable approach to continuous improvement.

OUR CUSTOMER

INEOS Styrolution is an international chemical company operating a global network of production sites. Within its Global Technology & Operations (GTO) organization, ensuring consistency, transparency and alignment across sites is essential to support operational excellence and long‑term performance.

THE CHALLENGE

Global operations with varying maturity levels

INEOS Styrolution operates worldwide, with sites differing in operational maturity, performance levels and local practices. This made it difficult to compare sites objectively and identify improvement potential in a consistent way.

No uniform method for site diagnostics

There was no shared methodology available to assess operational performance and improvement opportunities across sites. As a result, insights were often fragmented and dependent on local interpretations.

Need for alignment and knowledge sharing

Beyond methodology, INEOS Styrolution wanted to strengthen collaboration, alignment and knowledge sharing within the global operations community, enabling teams to learn from each other and work towards common goals.

Building excellence together

PDM supported the positioning of the GTO role by facilitating global alignment and developing a structured Site Diagnostics Framework.

The approach focused on creating a shared language, common assessment criteria and a repeatable methodology for site evaluations. By working closely with global and local stakeholders, PDM helped define objective evaluation criteria and embed a uniform way of working across regions.

This enabled INEOS Styrolution to assess sites consistently, identify improvement opportunities and support structured decision‑making at both site and global level.

The impact we made

The Site Diagnostics Framework strengthened the role of GTO as a connecting link between global operations and local sites.
